Operative since 2024, the Digital Nomad Visa lets non-EU remote workers and freelancers live in Italy while earning from foreign employers or clients. Unlike elective residency, it expressly permits remote work.

Two profiles, one visa

Employees on a foreign contract that allows remote work, and freelancers serving clients outside Italy. Both share the same visa in Italian law, with requirements that differ slightly.

Residency means tax residency

Past 183 days a year you become an Italian tax resident on worldwide income. Italy offers favourable inbound regimes, the impatriate scheme and the 7% southern-town rate among them. We set the structure up from day one.

Four steps to the permesso

Eligibility and tax review, the consular application (30 to 90 days), then within 8 days of arrival the permesso di soggiorno at the Questura, valid one year and renewable.
